This Is What ROOTED Looks Like: A Juneteenth Movement Built for Emerging Talent

Why ROOTED Is Set Up This Way: We Are Opening Our Own Door

Tired of waiting for the perfect opportunity.

Tired of waiting for somebody with a bigger platform, a bigger budget, a bigger name, or a bigger following to finally say, “You’re important enough now.”

ROOTED was created from that exact feeling.

Not bitterness. Not ego. Not “look at me.”

But truth.

Because the truth is, there are so many everyday people walking around with real talent, real skill, real stories, real influence, real creativity, and real purpose — but because they are not already famous, already connected, or already sitting inside the “right rooms,” they get overlooked.

And I wanted to change that.

So instead of waiting for a door to open, I decided to open my own.

Not just for me.

For us.

For the artists who perform like they already belong on the biggest stages.

For the influencers who make people laugh, think, watch, and share — even without a major machine behind them.

For the hair stylists, makeup artists, designers, photographers, media partners, hosts, models, vendors, youth entrepreneurs, and creatives who are already building something from scratch.

For the young adults who are just getting started but already have the spark.

For the people who have a personal circle of supporters, customers, clients, family, friends, followers, and fans — but deserve to be seen beyond their immediate circle.

That is why ROOTED is set up the way it is.

Because this is not just an event.

This is proof.

ROOTED Is Built to Show What We Can Do When We Stop Waiting

ROOTED Juneteenth Cultural Experience was created to prove that we can build our own stage, our own media platform, our own marketplace, our own runway, our own spotlight, and our own moment.

We do not have to wait until somebody else validates us.

We do not have to wait until we have a million followers to be considered influential.

We do not have to wait until we are famous to be worth covering.

We do not have to wait until we are already rich to be treated like a brand.

We do not have to wait until the world calls us important before we start moving like we are.

ROOTED is saying: we are important now.

Right now.

In the building stage.

In the beginning stage.

In the “I’m still figuring it out but I know I got something” stage.

In the “I don’t have all the resources yet, but I got vision” stage.

That is why this event includes fashion, music, vendors, media, youth creatives, cultural commentary, brand activations, food, performances, and community all in one space.

Because our culture is not one thing.

We are not one thing.

We are layered. We are talented. We are funny. We are gifted. We are stylish. We are business-minded. We are spiritual. We are loud. We are soft. We are creative. We are resourceful. We are brilliant. We are ROOTED.

This Is What ROOTED Looks Like

When you look at the flyers, the artists, the vendors, the youth participants, the hosts, the performers, the designers, and the media partners, you are not just looking at a lineup.

You are looking at a living vision board.

You are looking at people who decided to show up before the whole world knew their name.

You are looking at emerging talent.

Emerging influencers.

Emerging musicians.

Emerging entrepreneurs.

Emerging designers.

Emerging media personalities.

Emerging young business owners.

Emerging community leaders.

And “emerging” does not mean less valuable.

It means early.

It means now is the time to pay attention.

Because everybody starts somewhere.

Before the sold-out tours, there was a first stage.

Before the brand deals, there was a first post.

Before the storefront, there was a folding table.

Before the celebrity stylist, there was somebody doing hair in the kitchen, the bathroom, the basement, the dorm room, the bedroom, or wherever they could make it happen.

Before the major designer, there was somebody pressing shirts, sewing pieces, customizing jackets, sketching ideas, and believing in themselves before anybody else understood the vision.

ROOTED is built for that part of the journey.

The part where people need exposure.

The part where people need support.

The part where people need a room full of people to see them, hear them, shop with them, film them, follow them, book them, share them, and say, “I see what you’re building.”

Because sometimes that one moment of being seen can change everything.

We Are Highlighting Normal Everyday People — Because Normal Everyday People Are Powerful

ROOTED is not built around the idea that only celebrities deserve attention.

That’s actually the whole point.

ROOTED was created to highlight normal everyday people just like me.

People with jobs.

People with kids.

People with ideas.

People with brands.

People with talent.

People with unfinished websites, big dreams, small budgets, and crazy faith.

People who are still working regular jobs while building something extraordinary on the side.

People who are trying to turn their gifts into income.

People who are trying to create generational change, but still figuring out how to pay for the next step.

That is real.

That is honest.

That is the culture.

And that deserves to be celebrated too.

Because a lot of us are not lacking talent.

We are lacking access.

We are lacking visibility.

We are lacking rooms where people take us seriously before we “blow up.”

We are lacking opportunities that allow us to practice being bigger.

That’s what ROOTED is designed to be.

A practice ground for greatness.

A platform for people who are building.

A cultural experience where people can bring their gift, activate their brand, and be seen in real time.

Why Vendors Are Required to Activate Their Booths

ROOTED vendors are not just being asked to show up with a table and sit there.

No shade — but this ain’t that.

We are asking vendors to activate.

That means create an experience.

Let people sample.

Let people smell.

Let people try.

Let people touch.

Let people taste.

Let people take pictures.

Let people ask questions.

Let people connect with the story behind the brand.

Because the goal is not just to sell one item.

The goal is to make people remember you.

When someone walks past your booth at ROOTED, they should feel like they are stepping into your world, even if it is just for a few minutes.

A candle brand should make people feel something.

A dessert brand should give people a taste they keep talking about.

A clothing brand should create a styling moment.

A beauty brand should demonstrate transformation.

A jewelry brand should help people see themselves differently.

A service-based brand should show people the problem they solve.

That is why the vendor experience matters.

Because ROOTED is not just about transactions.

It is about connection.

And when people connect with the story, the product becomes more than a product.

It becomes personal.

Why Youth Are Included

One of the most important parts of ROOTED is the youth creative impact piece.

Because if we are talking about culture, creativity, entrepreneurship, and ownership, we cannot leave out the young people coming behind us.

They need more than lectures.

They need real rooms.

Real examples.

Real opportunities.

Real exposure.

Real practice.

They need to see that their ideas matter now, not ten years from now.

ROOTED gives young adults and youth entrepreneurs a chance to be seen as business owners, creatives, models, designers, artists, photographers, content creators, and future leaders.

Not “cute little side projects.”

Not “awww, look at the kids.”

No.

Real participants.

Real brands.

Real talent.

Real opportunity.

Because when a young person sees themselves represented in a room like this, something clicks.

They start thinking, “Wait… I can do this too.”

That is the goal.

Not just entertainment.

Inspiration.

Why Media Matters So Much

ROOTED also puts a major focus on media because documentation is power.

If nobody captures the moment, the moment disappears.

And too many powerful things happen in our community without being properly documented, promoted, written about, photographed, filmed, archived, and shared.

That is why ROOTED includes media partners, content creators, interviews, brand storytelling, and ROOTED: Black News™.

Because we are not just throwing an event.

We are building proof.

Proof that we were here.

Proof that we created.

Proof that we gathered.

Proof that we supported each other.

Proof that this movement started somewhere.

Media turns one day into a story.

Media turns one performance into a clip.

Media turns one vendor booth into a brand moment.

Media turns one youth participant into a feature.

Media turns one dream into something people can see, share, and believe in.

And that matters.

Because sometimes people do not support what they cannot understand.

So we are going to show them.

Clearly.

Beautifully.

Loudly.

Unapologetically.

Why Juneteenth Is the Right Moment

Juneteenth is about freedom.

But freedom cannot only be something we remember.

It has to be something we practice.

And economic freedom, creative freedom, cultural freedom, and ownership are all part of that.

ROOTED was built around the idea that we cannot just celebrate freedom while still waiting for permission.

We have to create something.

Build something.

Own something.

Support something.

Fund something.

Document something.

Pass something down.

That is why ROOTED is happening around Juneteenth.

Because this is our reminder that freedom is not just historical.

Freedom is active.

Freedom is creative.

Freedom is economic.

Freedom is communal.

Freedom is us saying: we are not waiting to be included in somebody else’s vision.

We are building our own.

You Are Not Just Buying a Ticket

When you support ROOTED, you are not just buying a ticket.

You are supporting a dream.

You are supporting a vision.

You are supporting emerging artists.

You are supporting young entrepreneurs.

You are supporting Black-owned vendors.

You are supporting creatives who are trying to turn talent into opportunity.

You are supporting a Black female veteran-led cultural experience.

You are supporting a platform that says everyday people deserve extraordinary rooms too.

You are supporting the culture.

You are supporting the movement.

You are supporting the idea that we do not have to be famous to be valuable.

We do not have to be rich to be worthy.

We do not have to be perfectly polished to begin.

We do not have to wait for somebody else to make us feel important.

We can choose ourselves.

We can choose each other.

And we can build something that proves it.

We Just Want to Be Important and Known

That might sound simple, but it is real.

We just want to be important and known.

Not in a shallow way.

Not in a “look at me for no reason” way.

But in a human way.

In a “my work matters” way.

In a “my dream deserves support” way.

In a “my story is worth telling” way.

In a “my community sees me” way.

Because being seen can be healing.

Being supported can be life-changing.

Being recognized can give somebody the confidence to keep going.

ROOTED is for the people who are tired of shrinking.

ROOTED is for the people who know they have something, even if the world has not caught up yet.

ROOTED is for the people who are ready to stop waiting and start becoming.

This Is the Beginning

ROOTED is not being built as a one-time event.

It is being built as a movement.

A cultural platform.

A creative economy.

A space where people can come together, support each other, and watch each other grow from “emerging” to established.

One day, people will look back and say, “I remember when ROOTED first started.”

And the people in the room at the beginning will know they were part of something before everybody else understood it.

That is what makes this special.

This is not just about June 18.

This is about what happens after.

The collaborations.

The bookings.

The followers.

The sales.

The footage.

The confidence.

The relationships.

The inspiration.

The proof.

Because when people see ROOTED, I want them to think:

“If she opened her own door, maybe I can open mine too.”

And that is the whole point.

This is what ROOTED looks like.

This is what community looks like.

This is what culture looks like.

This is what faith with a flyer, a plan, a dream, a QR code, a folding table, a microphone, a runway, and a whole lot of audacity looks like.

ROOTED Juneteenth Cultural Experience is not just asking people to attend.

It is asking people to believe.

Believe in the dream.

Believe in the vision.

Believe in the culture.

Believe in the movement.

Believe in us before the world catches up.

Because we are not waiting anymore.

We are opening our own door.

And everybody who walks through it with us becomes part of the story.
